The National Facility Management Association
was founded in October, 1980 at Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States of America, by a group of forty (40) professional facility managers. Its professional growth in 1982 led to changing the name to the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) to reflect the International make-up, scope and membership of the Association.
BOMA International was founded in 1907 as the National Association of Building Owners and Managers. The association assumed its present name in 1968 as it broadened its reach to include Canada and participants from around the globe. The vision of the Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA BC) is to be recognized as the principal voice, through leadership and advocacy, for the commercial buildings industry.
